JOB TITLE: Financial Clearance Specialist Associate LOCATION: Glenmaura Office Building DEPARTMENT: My Visit WORK SCHEDULE: Days (M-F 9:00AM – 5:30PM; no weekends or holidays) WORK TYPE: Full Time (1.0 FTE)
JOB SUMMARY: Provides seamless pre-registration based on HIPAA guidelines prior to service for scheduled ambulatory appointments and hospital scheduled admissions throughout the Geisinger Health System. Completes insurance verification. Documents any out-of-pocket expenses and acquire any necessary referrals. SPECIFIC POSITION DUTIES: Basic knowledge sufficient to perform recurring assignments with a reasonable degree of independence under normal supervision and after a customary orientation period. COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Demonstrates a positive, supportive, respectful and helpful attitude in interactions with all department customers (patients, physicians and other healthcare team members).
Provides and maintains patient privacy in compliant with HIPAA guidelines and privacy practices, patient confidentiality and patient rights. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent is required. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is typically performed in an office environment.
